Cold Call Openers
The best cold call openers I’ve come across this entire year.
Hey sales friends,
In this week’s newsletter I’m breaking down everything I know about cold call openers.
There’s been a lot of new strategies and tactics as of late so wanted to put them all together here for ya.
Let’s dive in!
The Old Way
3 Steps:
Introduce yourself
Be upfront about it being a cold call
Ask for permission to continue or use some humor
For the record these openers work.
But there’s now a better way.
Example 1:
Hey Sally, It’s Mike from Deel. I know you didn’t expect my call. Have a moment? I promise to be brief.
Example 2:
Hey Sally, It’s Mike from Deel. Not going to lie this is a cold call. Want to hang up now or roll the dice and see why I called?
The New Way
4 Steps:
Introduce yourself.
Be upfront about it being a cold call.
Share context as to why you’re calling them specifically.
Use a permission based question for proceeding to your pitch.
Because you’re sharing relevant context in your opener your chance of getting through to your pitch will increase substantially.
Example 1:
Hey Sally, It’s Mike at Deel. You may hate me because this is a cold call. But it’s a well researched one about [insert context]. Have a moment? I promise to be brief.
Example 2:
Hey Sally, It’s Mike at Deel. I’m reaching out about [insert context]. This is a cold call but it’s a well researched one. Have a moment to hear my pitch?
Example 3:
Hey Sally, It’s Mike at Deel. I’m hoping to make your day with a cold call about [insert context]. Have a moment to hear why I called you specifically? I promise it’ll be quick.
What’s your favorite cold call opener?
Reply to this email and let me know!
Especially if it’s different from what I shared.
See y’all next week!
